Destination Description

India has some of the most visited birding destinations in Asia. Goa, its smallest state, has long been a draw for sun-seeking package tourists and hippies but is also a top destination for birders being relatively easy to bird without local guides. The historical wonders of northern India like the Taj Mahal are often close to prime birding territory too. The northeast has incrdible contrasts from high altitude birds in Assam to lush jungle and wetland in Bengal. In the south and Kerala one can find endemics and southern birds whilst Gujarat offers different birds adapted for the dryer climate.
